What Type Of Hiker Are You Quiz
The Step Tracker
For you, the quality of a good hike is measured exclusively by the number of
steps you took. You wear your FitBit or Apple Watch everywhere, even when you
take a shower, and you know how many steps it takes you to get to your mailbox
and back. You put on athleisure wear to the grocery store to maximize your peak
performance. Suffice it to say, your day is organized around getting your 10,000
steps in, and then some!
The Hiker For the Gram
Did you even go on the hike if you didn’t post about it on Instagram?? When
you’re choosing which hike to go on, a beautiful vista is your top priority. You’ll
happily scramble up a sheer rock face and crawl through a field of thorny bushes
if it means you get a great picture at the end of the day.
The Party Hiker
You don’t ever have to wonder where the party is, because you bring it with you
wherever you go. No hike is complete without your Bluetooth speaker blasting
your favorite tunes. You and your friends go hiking because it’s a great excuse to
see each other and hang out. You don’t mind if other people get annoyed by your
loud music – you’re too busy having a good time!
The Dog Walker
When you go hiking, you’re not the one in charge: your dog is. You know all of
your dog’s favorite trails and paths to walk down, and you know exactly which
mailboxes he’s going to need to stop at. You always carry a water bottle when
you go for a hike, but most of it ends up in your dog’s collapsible water bowl.
The Tree Hugger
Hiking for you is all about stepping into the sweet embrace of Mother Nature. You
make sure to leave no trace when you go for a hike, and you always carry an
extra bag with you so that you can pick up any trash you find. Your phone is full
of pictures of birds and insects and plants that you’ve seen, and you spend time
after every hike identifying each one’s species.
The Shade Hopper
You know that the great outdoors aren’t for everyone, and you’re okay with that.
When you go outside for a hike, you try to be “outside” as little as possible. You
hide from the blazing sun by jumping from one patch of shade to the next, or
maybe you even bring the shade with you by carrying a parasol. You slather on
sunscreen and bug spray, and your hiking uniform involves long pants, long
sleeves, and a wide-brimmed hat.
The Peak Bagger
Why do you love to climb mountains? Because they’re there. You’re the kind of
person who has a bucket list of your 100 favorite mountains that you want to
climb. You love nothing more than crossing off a mountain from your list, and you
try to never climb the same peak twice. You’ve climbed all the 5K peaks in your
state, and you’re almost done with the ones in the next state over
The Light Weight
You try not to bring along any baggage that you don’t need. You do ultra
marathons, and you do them ultralight. Forget trekking poles or backpacks!
You’re a lean, mean hiking machine. You carry a bandolier of water bottles and
protein bars to keep you going for ten, twenty, thirty, forty miles at a time. You
resent sleep, because it means you’re not out there, doing what you love to do
The Long Haule
You’re a thru hiker, through and through. You’ve hiked the Appalachian Trail, the
Pacific Crest Trail, the Continental Divide Trail, the Camino de Santiago, and Te
Araroa. You know what it’s like to hike day in and day out, for weeks and months
on end. Your legs are like tree trunks and your arms are like itty bitty twigs.
You’ve bonded with your fellow travelers on the road, and you delight in calling
yourselves Hiker Trash. For you, hiking isn’t just something you do from time to
1time, it’s a way of life.
The Ninja Warrior
You do everything in the extreme. You love to push yourself as far as you can go,
and then push yourself even further. When you go hiking, you don’t just go for a
walk – you run up those hills like your life depended on it, and you do it
backwards… while doing jumping jacks… and holding twenty pound weights. You
look for every possible opportunity to turn a simple hike into a supreme
adventure.
